The goal of the Media Ministry is to glorify God through media presentations, events, recordings, and communication. The Media Ministry functions to assist the church in communicating information about the various ministries to our community and within the church.

MEDIA MINISTRY REQUEST GUIDELINES

Requests need to be made three weeks prior to event being displayed
Example( If your production needs to be aired 1/24/21 you should have filled out the request 1/3/21)
Week 1: Consultation & Filming
Please know what you want and be ready to answer questions
Discuss a schedule for filming
Week 2: Filming
Week 3: Editing

Please note these time slots are filled weekly
Sunday Worship (9am-3pm)

BE SPECIFIC:

 When you fill out this form, be sure to include every detail. Think about what questions people may ask about your event and go ahead and answer them here. Pay special attention to times and locations. People are not going to join you if they do not know where to find you.

TALK IT UP:

Face-to-face is the most effective form of advertising. When you are at church, work, or anywhere else, tell folks about your event. The best way to inform people of your upcoming event is for you to contact people individually. If your announcement affects a small group of people, speak to them face to face, give them a call, or email them. This method, overall, receives the best response.

PRAY!:

Everything we do here at Fifth Ward is to bring glory to the Name of the Lord. Bathe your events in prayer and seek Christ’s direction as you mister to others in our church and community.

CHURCH WEBSITE AND OTHER ONLINE ANNOUNCEMENTS:

All church-related events and announcements will be posted on the church website & social media pages. This includes events for small and large groups. Requests need to be made three weeks in advance of the date you want your event to be viewed by members. Understand, that requests are made on a “first come first serve” basis.

Advantages & Disadvantages

HIGHER ENGAGEMENT:

 It seems audiences are drawn to real-time footage more than polished pre-recordings

ENGAGING:

One of the main things you want to do on social media is engage with your audience. Live streaming is a great new way to engage and interact with your audience.

IMMEDIACY:

There's something to be said for that feeling that you’re watching something as its happening. There’s more of a connection. It feels more human.

INTERACTION:

With today’s streaming platforms, the presenter can use any number of apps to interact with their audience, asking questions, taking polls, and playing games. Live-streaming itself is inherently about community.

UNPREDICTABLE THINGS CAN HAPPEN:

 When you live, unexpected things can happen. You have a coughing fit, and the backdrop falls down – but this is all part of the risk and charm of being live. On the one hand, it makes you appear more real and therefore more personable, but on the other, you may come across as unprofessional.

GOING OFF SCRIPT:

You have a basic outline of the content you’re going to cover, but you find yourself going completely off script and diluting the messaging. Tip: would be good to have a co-host or producer nearby who can help steer the video back on track.

TECHNICAL ERRORS:

While you don’t have to worry about post-production, you have to worry about technical errors occurring while streaming live. The error doesn’t need to happen on your end – if the viewer has a slow Internet connection, the video may often stop to buffer, or be of low quality. This can be frustrating for viewers and result in them not watching the stream. There can also be glitches with the platform. Facebook Live users can expect some glitches, such as the stream being slow or laggy or having audio issues.

NO DO-OVERS:

Not having a second chance can be scary, because this sounds like there’s no room for mistakes. But that isn’t true. In fact, viewers can be more forgiving when it comes to live video, and many expect some live bloopers. It gives the broadcast a human aspect, which is essential for viewers to identify with your brand. No do-overs also mean that you need to be more prepared than you would be for videos on demand.

 

PRE-RECORDED

RETAKES:

One thing about a live presentation is that what you see is what you get. Warts and all. The presenter mess up? It’s live. The device running stream malfunctions? It’s live. The speaker’s microphone cuts out? It’s live. With pre-produced content, you can take two, three, four, and more if necessary.

FLEXIBILITY:

You have more control over how the content is presented. Want your audience to see the presenter and an accompanying animation at the same time? Want the presenter to interact with the animation? Perhaps with objects and characters zipping around and behind them? You can do that if it’s pre-produced.

WOW FACTOR:

With virtual presentations, you have the unique opportunity to merge the best elements of an in-person live event with a full slate of technical and creative broadcasting tools. And post-production— motion graphics, special effects, sound effects, music— makes everything look better because you have the time and tools to polish the presentation to a high sheen.

LOSS OF AUTHENTICITY:

Understandably, many analysts and investors prefer to hear management live. They want to get a feel for management’s mood, and that’s harder to do on a polished pre-recording. Another area to consider: not all companies are open about their use of recorded remarks on calls, which some admit can be a bit awkward

LOGISTICAL CHALLENGES:

You need to allow enough time to record, edit, and upload the file. Which means you need to finish your review of earnings a few days earlier than you did.

RETAKES:

People often are nervous in front of a camera and can quite often stumble over their words more causing more retakes.
