KATHY RADFORD, FIRST LADY
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23
Kathy DeBaun Radford, born Kathy DeBaun Barnes to the late George W. Barnes, Sr., and Mary Katherine Barnes on March 20, 1959, in Cadiz, KY, lived her life in full expression of the Proverbs 31 woman.
Kathy accepted Christ at a young age and joined Bloomfield Missionary Baptist Church of Cadiz, KY. She was an active member of her church where she ushered and sang in the choir.
Kathy graduated from Trigg County High School. Later on Kathy began working in her passion of helping to care for others and worked in the health care field for many years. Kathy had a strong gift of compassion and hospitality.
On June 21, 1986, Kathy was joined in Holy Matrimony to Charles W. Radford. She is the mother to Sha and Justin Radford. Kathy took seriously her role as a wife and a mother and invested her time growing in her knowledge and skill of caring for her home and her family. When it came to her husband, children and family, Kathy was the definition of agape love. She was a beacon of light to those that she came in contact with, always giving a warm smile and an encouraging word; and she never met a stranger. She was always eager to share the love of Christ and salvation to others. In April of 1994, Charles W. Radford became the Pastor of Fifth Ward Missionary Baptist Church and Kathy came along beside her husband and supported the ministry in a variety of ways. Kathy was a youth Sunday School teacher, choir member, a member of the hospitality ministry, and she definitely was Pastor Radford’s “amen” corner.
On Wednesday, February 16, 2022, Charles, her children and loved ones surrounded Kathy as she faced the sunset of her days on earth and entered her rest joining her Savior in eternity.
She has left an indelible impact to be remembered by her husband of nearly 35 years, Pastor Charles W. Radford; two children: Sha Radford and Justin Radford; three grandchildren: Jusaria Radford, Jaden Radford, and Emmanuel Radford; three brothers: Clemon Barnes (Lawana), Richard Barnes, Sr. (Rosalee), and George W. Barnes, Jr. (Annette); Sister: Bettye Barnes; Aunt: Gloria Edwards Sam; seven sisters-in-law: Evelyn Boyd, Mae Paulus (Maurice), Virginia Sledge, Rhinell Weldon, Delores Bradner, Debra Jenkins and Flossie Cross Radford; brothers-in-law: Thomas Radford, Norris Radford, and Ricky Radford; ten nephews; six nieces and a host of other family and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by parents, George W. Barnes, Sr., and Mary Katherine Barnes; one brother, Robert C. Taylor; one niece, Angel Barnes
